Attributes and Features

General

Attributes can be used as fields that hold a specific value for a specific record. This option can be used if the value cannot be stored in many of the standards fields our solution offers.

Attributes can be used in 3 ways:

  • Standard Attributes via 'Attribute Setup'
  • Shortcut Attributes via 'Attribute Table List'
    • These values are stored in the document info set entries not on the actual table itself.
  • Doc. Info. Set Entries via 'Features' or 'Attribute Set'

For all possibilities the first step is creating an Attribute to the Attribute table.

Below the fields in this table with an explanation:

Field Explanation
Code Code of Attribute
Description Description of Attribute
Type Data type, can be Text, Integer, Decimal, Option, Date, Time, Yes/No, Custom List, Table Relation, Table Field, Status, Sub Table

The system will evaluate (real time) the value to the data type if supported.
Selection Criteria Can be On Value, Always, Never

This value is used when filtering on Inventory (Batch or Handling Unit Content)
Option string Can be used for Type Option

Example: Cool, Frozen, Fresh
Custom List Use this to specify which Custom List has to be used for this Attribute
No. of Decimals Sets the number of decimals for Type Decimal
Minimum Value Set a minimum value for this Attribute
Maximum Value Set a maximum value for this Attribute
Table Set a table for types Table Relation or Table Field
Field Set a field from the selected table for types Table Relation or Table Field
Description Field Description
Validation Field validation can be set here
Topic Line Used in Document Info Templates to create a TopicLine, Line Style will be Bold
Validation Regular Expression You can apply a Regex to determine if the value is valid
Validation Check Based on the Function the Value of the attribute will be validated
Length Maximum length of the value
Capitals If checked on the value will be in Capitals
Value by Posting When Posting a Document or Detail Line if the value is empty, you select the response
Default Display Order When Creating Document Info Templates, the Display Order will help to set the correct sequence

From here on the Attribute can be used in the 3 mentioned ways

Attribute Setup

In the Attribute Setup you can specify which extra fields you would like to use for different tables. Each table has 10 standard Attribute fields and by setting an Attribute the name (Description) and rules (as type and validation) set in the Attribute table are used.

In this way fields can be customized based on customer specific needs.

The values for these fields are stored in the table they are configured for and in the list and card pages for this table the fields can be shown and used for filtering.

For tables Document Line and Document Detail Line it is possible to select the option to store the values in the Item Ledger Entries. This means that the values are also available on the stock that will be put in the system. Configured Attributes for de Line and Detail Line should always be the same.

Important! Once attribute values are used in Batch content it is not possible to change the setup.

Attribute Table List

Next to the 10 standard Attributes we have 10 additional Attributes that can be added to a table.

In the Attribute Table List you can click on the Shortcut Attributes after selecting the correct table. Here you can add the extra needed Attribute fields.

On the list and card pages for this table it is possible to make these fields visible (via personalization) and populate them. It is however not possible to use these fields for filtering.

The values for these fields will not be stored in the selected table, but will be stored in the Doc. Info. Set Entries and linked to the record via the Doc. Info. Set ID.

How to Configure Shortcut Attributes

Open Attribute Table List

AttImg

1: select the table where you want to setup a shortcut attribute

2: select Shortcut Attributes to start setup for the shortcut attributes (continue to Setup Shortcut Attributes)

3: select Table Attributes to start setup for LookUp and Validation Function Sets (continue to Setup LookUp and Validation Function Sets)

Setup Shortcut Attributes

After selecting Shortcut Attributes in the previous step the Shortcut Attribute List will open. Click on New to add a new line. Most fields are populated automatically. In the column Attribute Code you can select the attribute you want to use.

You may use any type of attribute you would like.

How to make them visible on the Card / List

When the setup is done you can use personalization to show the shortcut attribute(s) on the card or list you want. The caption for the field will be the same as the description of the attribute that is used for this shortcut attribute.

After personalization you can see the following field:

Setup LookUp and Validation Function Sets

Next to just using shortcut attributes it is also possible to use LookUp and Validation Function Sets.

  • A LookUp Function Set can help you selecting an existing value from any table in the system.
  • A Validation Function Set can help you to validate if the value that has been populated meets the requirements.

After selecting Table Attributes in the Attribute Table List the system will open the Table Attribute List. Click on new and select the attribute for which you want to create a LookUp and/or Validation Function Set.

AttImg

1: select Lookup Function Set to start setup (continue to Setup Lookup Function Set)

2: select Validation Function Set to start setup (continue to 'Setup Validation Function Set*)

Setup Lookup Function Set

The system will show you a page for setting up a function set. In this example we will add the SHOW LOOKUP function.

AttImg

In the following picture you will see the parameters we populate to show a list based on the custom list values. You can place filters on up to 10 fields to get the values you need, but at least filter on the primary key field(s) of the selected table.

AttImg

You can now close this setup. Below a picture of the result in the receipt:

1: click on the three dots to open the lookup

2: the lookup for this specific custom list values is shown.

Select the line you want to use and click on OK, you can also click on the Code to directly select it.

AttImg

Note: this specific example can also be achieved by setting up the attribute as a type Custom List with a specific custom list. But when you want to use another table or if you want to make the possible values more dynamic it is possible to use dynamic filters within the function set.

Setup Validation Function Set

The system will show you a page for setting up a function set. In this example we will add the EXISTS function. This function will check if the value that has been populated is an existing value.

AttImg

In the pictures below you will see the parameters we populate to check if the populated value exists in the custom list values.

AttImg

You should select on the Custom List Values table and then filter on the Custom List Code with the same filter value as you used for the Lookup function (INSPREQ). Next to that you should filter on the field that should contain the value that you used to populate the field. In this example the Code field (in parameter FIELD 2). This field should be filtered (FILTER 2) with a function. You can open it by clicking on the three dots.

Here you can add the VAR function.

AttImg

The last parameter you populate is the MESSAGE. The text you put in here will show as an error message when you populate the field with a value that does not exist in the custom list values. See picture below:

Features / Attribute Set

On most lists and pages you can find Features or Attribute Set. By opening this you will find the values that where populated for the Standard Attributes and also the Shortcut Attributes.

Next to these values it is possible to add extra Attributes to this list and populate the field Value with the value wanted. This value will be stored in the Doc. Info. Set Enties and linked to the record via the Doc. Info. Set ID.

These Attributes and values can be populated manually but also using functions on status changes or in scanning processes.

Import Attributes

It is now possible to import feature/attribute sets via excel and link them to a customer item.

  • Search for 3PL Import Attributes.
  • Download a Template
  • Fill the Template
  • Upload the Template
  • Import the Template
Tip

It is possible to generate a template from a document info template.
