Document Security

Goods from around the world have never been more accessible, thanks to the rapid growth of international transportation. With it comes the risk of security issues. To guarantee the safety of the entire supply chain strict security measures apply from the EU (Regulation (EU) No. 185/2010). For example, all air cargo must be screened for hazardous substances and explosives. From the deployment of X-rays to sniffer dogs.

Logistics service providers play an important part to secure a safe supply chain. For example, you must carry out the necessary checks (or have them carried out) to demonstrate that the cargo originates from an approved agent or regular consignor. A specialism that many logistics service providers do not have in-house.

That is why most of them hire the expertise of external organizations, such as Cargo Screeners. They provide the screening and the necessary security statements. It is up to the forwarder to record the administration in detail.

How to manage security records

Airfreight shipment

When you create a new shipment with the modality Air a Document Security record will be created. This record will be printed on the Airwaybill or send to the airline in the eAWB message.

The security record will be updated when changing the Shipper or Agent (which usually relates to an address of the forwarding company itself).

If the Sender is registerd as a known consignor, the security record will be created in the document. In the event that the Sender's Security registration is inactive, the values of the document Security record will be cleared.

If the Agent address has an active Security Registratrion, the Registration Id of on the Document Security record will be updated based on the user's Employee record. The registration number will be updated with the Regiostration number of the Agent's security record.

If the Road Carrier party is selected and has no valid security record, the values on the Document security record will be cleared.
