Introduction

Goods master data allows you to define and categorize the types of products, commodities, or cargo that you handle in your forwarding operations. Setting up Goods provides standardized descriptions and facilitates the recording of details relevant for transportation, customs, and handling.

Setting Up Goods

  1. Choose the Lightbulb that opens the Tell Me feature icon, enter Goods, and then choose the related link.
  2. On the Goods page, choose the New action to define a new type of good.
  3. Fill in the following fields:
    • Code: Enter a unique code to identify the good (e.g., 'ELECTR', 'TEXTIL', 'CHEMHZ').
    • Description: Provide a clear description of the good or commodity category (e.g., 'General Electronics', 'Apparel Textiles', 'Hazardous Chemicals Class 3').

Using Goods

Information from the Goods master data is primarily used on:

  • Shipment Documents: Specifying the nature of the cargo being transported on shipment lines.
  • Rate Management: Certain rates might be specific to the type of goods being shipped (e.g., hazardous goods surcharge).
  • Reporting: Analyzing shipment volumes or revenue based on commodity types.
