WMS Storage Index Check Guide
Introduction
This document provides a comprehensive guide for interpreting, investigating, and resolving issues identified by the "WMS Storage Index-Check" functionality. When you receive an email with a Storage Index Error, it means that a discrepancy has been found in your WMS system that requires attention.
The Storage Index Checks
The Storage Index-Check performs the following checks:
1. Index vs. Handling Unit Content Integrity Check
What is checked: This check compares the data in the "WMS Handling Unit Content" table with the "WMS Storage Index Handling Unit Content" table to ensure they are fully synchronized.
Possible issues in the email:
- Missing handling units in either table
- Field values that don't match between the tables
Investigation:
- Open table "WMS Handling Unit Content"
- Open table "WMS Storage Index Handling Unit Content"
- Filter on the handling unit(s) mentioned in the email
- Compare the values of the specific fields listed in the email
Solution:
- For discrepancies or issues, contact your software provider for advice on the correct solution
2. Negative Handling Unit Content Check
What is checked: The system checks for handling units with negative content, which indicates a problem with the order of posting dates.
Possible issues in the email:
- List of handling units with negative content
- The posting date on which the problem was detected
Investigation:
- Open table "WMS Storage Index Handling Unit Content"
- Filter on:
- "Posting Date" = the date mentioned in the email
- "Handling Unit No." = the handling unit(s) mentioned in the email
- "Quantity" < 0
- Also review related item legder entries for these handling unit(s)
Solution:
- Contact your software provider for advice on correcting posting dates and resolving negative content
3. Item Ledger Entry Posting Date Check
What is checked: This check identifies item entries where the posting date differs from the creation date, which can lead to negative handling unit content.
Possible issues in the email:
- Number of item entries with deviating posting date
- Storage cost difference in days
- Item Ledger Entry numbers with the issue
Investigation:
- Open table "WMS Item Ledger Entry"
- Filter on "Entry No." in the range mentioned in the email
- Compare for each entry:
- "Posting Date"
- "Created Date/Time" (or "SystemCreatedAt")
Solution:
- Contact your software provider for advice on correcting deviating posting dates in item entries
