Timeslot Module

This learn explains the capabilities of the Timeslot Module, and how to set it up

  1. Time slot Setup
  • Create a number series for the time slot bookings
  • Assign a default time slot planning method (see explanation below)
  • Choose the display method (text or graphical)
  1. Time slot planning Methods

Start with making a time slot planning method

  • Choose a code and a description
  • choose the starting time and ending time
  • This determines the time in which time slot bookings can ber made during a day
  • Choose the plannign resolution
  • This determines the time per time slot during a day. e.g. 15mins, 20mins, 30mins 1hr etc. capacity per time slot
  • This determines the capacity per time slot. This is used to determine how much capacity can be handled during 1 time slot. Usually the capacity is determined by number of pallets that can be handled during a timeslot for loading or unloading.
  • For example if a truck has 33 spaces for a pallet, the capacity can be 33, in a timeslot of 1hr. that you configured in the planning resolution
  1. Location capacities

After setting up the time slot planning methods, you have to determine the nr of times a time slot can be booked on the same time. If for example 5 trucks can be unloaded at the same time, you have to open 5 time slot locations.

  • go to location list (3pl)
  • create new location(s)
  • Assign the time slot planning method to the location
  1. Time slot capacity Restrictions You can apply restrictions on a time slot planning method. You can determine when during a day, and even specifiy per day of the week, how much capacity is available. these restrictions are not mandatory. You can apply capacity restrictions to:
  • document Types (e.g. receipt, shipment, trip)
  • day in the week
  • time in the day
  • per Carrier
  • or even apply a table filter on the document header.

By assigning the maximum amount of capacity in that restiction, the available capacity and therefore the number of time slots that can be booked in the configured timeframe will be limited. You can either use a maximum capacity as a limit, or use a negative capacity (e.g. -1) to block a certain timeframe from being booked.

  1. Time slot planning After configuring the above steps, you can now calculate the time slot planning. Since the available capacity in a certain period of time can change, it is advised to calculate the time slot planning up to 2 months in advance. go to 'Calculate Time Slot Entries'
  • enter the from date
  • Enter the to date

You have now calculated the available time slots in the configured time frame. Go to 'time slot planning' and review the available time slots.

Timeslot Module

This guide explains the capabilities of the Timeslot Module and how to configure it properly.

Time Slot Setup

  1. Create a Number Series
Define a number series for time slot bookings.

  2. Assign a Default Time Slot Planning Method
(See details in the section below.)

  3. Choose a Display Method

    • Text-based view
    • Graphical view

Time Slot Planning Methods

  1. Create a Time Slot Planning Method

    • Choose a code and description.
    • Set the start time and end time.
This defines the daily time range during which time slot bookings can be made.
    • Set the planning resolution (e.g. 15 mins, 30 mins, 1 hour).
This defines the duration of each time slot.
  2. Capacity per Time Slot

    • Set the capacity that can be handled per time slot.
Typically, this is the number of pallets that can be loaded or unloaded.
    • Example: A truck with 33 pallet spaces → Capacity = 33 (in a 1-hour time slot).

Location Capacities

Once the planning methods are defined, you must specify how many bookings can occur simultaneously.

  1. Go to Location List (3PL).
  2. Create new location(s).
  3. Assign a Time Slot Planning Method to each location.

Example: If 5 trucks can be unloaded at once, configure 5 time slot locations.

Time Slot Capacity Restrictions

Capacity restrictions can be applied to limit or block time slots based on certain criteria.

These restrictions are optional, but useful for fine-tuning availability.

Restrictions can be applied to:

  • Document types (e.g., receipt, shipment, trip)
  • Day of the week
  • Time of day
  • Carrier
  • Document header filters (e.g., specific customer or warehouse)

You can configure:

  • A maximum capacity (e.g., 20 pallets)
  • A blocked period using a negative capacity (e.g., -1 to block a timeslot)

Time Slot Planning Calculation

Once setup is complete, calculate time slot availability:

  1. Go to "Calculate Time Slot Entries".
  2. Enter the from date and to date (recommended: up to 2 months ahead).
  3. The system will now calculate and generate available time slots for the given range.
  4. Go to "Time Slot Planning" to review the available time slots.

This configuration ensures efficient booking, avoids overloading of resources, and supports clear visibility in logistics operations.
