Dynamics 365 Business Central 2023 Release Wave 1 (v22)
In this guide, we will provide an overview of the necessary requirements to ensure a smooth installation process. Whether you are a new customer in the sales process or preparing to sign the contract, this information will help you understand what is needed. There are a few key things that is needed, and we will explain it point by point:
Establish a Reseller relationship
To ensure the accurate ordering of licenses, it is essential to establish a reseller relationship. Without this relationship, we are unable to order the correct licenses, such as Dynamics 365 Business Central team member, External accountant, and Essential users for you as a customer.
You can find more information about establishing a reseller relationship here.
Granular Delegated admin privileges (GDAP)
GDAP eliminates the need for Global Admin access in the customer tenant. It is a security feature that follows the Zero Trust cybersecurity protocol, providing partners with least-privileges access. With GDAP, we can effectively control access in the customer tenant to maintain the Microsoft Business Central solution. Additionally, GDAP allows us to send support tickets to Microsoft on your behalf, which is crucial in case of any issues requiring assistance from Microsoft.
We will request three different roles with GDAP
- Dynamics 365 administrator: Can manage all aspects of the Dynamics 365 product.
- Service support administrator: Can read service health information and submit support requests on behalf of the customer.
- Global reader: Can read everything that a global administrator can, but not update anything.
More information about GDAP can be found here and here.
Grant consent on different AAD application registrations
AAD (Azure Active Directory) application registration refers to the process of creating an application in Azure Active Directory, which allows the application to integrate and authenticate with Azure AD. Azure AD is a cloud-based identity and access management service provided by Microsoft.
When you register an application in Azure AD, you obtain an application ID (also known as a client ID) and configure various settings that determine how the application interacts with Azure AD and other resources. AAD application registration is a fundamental step when building applications that need to integrate with Azure AD for authentication, authorization, and accessing various Microsoft services and APIs.
We will request consent for the following app registrations:
- Boltrics App Platform
- Boltrics Application Management DevOps
- DataHub
- 3PL Web Portal
Which exact API permissions we ask, can be found here.
More information regarding Azure Active Directory can be found here.
Add Boltrics account to customer tenant
To create a user account, we require an account in the customer's Azure Tenant. This account will begin with "Boltrics@customerdomain.xx". The Boltrics account is necessary for signing in to your Business Central environment.
Boltrics print service
The Boltrics print service is a powerful service that can help streamline your printing and communication processes like never before. By installing this service on a local server within your network, you'll gain access to a range of benefits that will help your business operate more efficiently and effectively. More information regarding the Boltrics print service can be found here: Boltrics print service
Tip
For printing: To ensure a smooth installation process, please have the print server prepared before Boltrics begins the installation. This will help improve the turnaround time for the installation.
The print server itself does not have any specific requirements, as it functions primarily as a server for locally installed printers. It runs as an 'agent' that receives all the print jobs.
The minimum requirements for the print server are as follows: a Windows server installed on the machine. It is preferable to have a single server, but if you have multiple locations, you can utilize something like HyperVPN.
Additional information
During the installation process, we will request certain general information from you. This will include company details such as address, telephone number, and other relevant contact information. We will also require you to provide the desired name for your Business Central company.
