Configuration Package Trailer

General

The functionality Configuration Package Trailer supports users in migrating trailer-data to Boltrics 3PL Dynamics.

Functionality

By creating trailers a full list of resources will be available to the planner to plan trips on specific trailers.

Step 1. Preperation

  1. Check no. series on manual entry

    1. Open the page: Transport Setup, Tab: Numbering and click on the look-up button in the field: Trailer Nos.
    2. Click on: Select from full list in the selection page.
    3. Scroll to the right side in the screen: Select No. Series and check if the field: Manual Nos. is activited.
    4. If not Click on the button: Edit List and activate the field: Manual Nos.
  2. Check/update related tables Not applicable.

Step 2. Create file with Trailer-data

  1. Create Excel-file for migrating truck data. The following steps have to be perfomed to create an Exel-file for migrating trailers.

    1. Open page: Configuration Packages
    2. Go to the line with code: TRAILER and open the page.
    3. Click on the button: Export to Excel and confirm with Yes
    4. The file will be available in the download-folder and contains the following worksheets; Resource, Resource Group, Resource Group Cappacity, Resource Assignment, Restriction and Restiction Assigned
  2. General guidlines entering data into the Excel-file

    1. Do not change the names of worksheets and/or colums.
    2. Do not delete/change the first 3 rows in a worksheet.
    3. Click on the title of a column to see the format of a field. Some examples of formating:
    Value Remarks
    Boolean 0=False, 1=True
    Code20 Field may contain, characters, numbers and punctuations, maximum length of value in the field: 20.
    Date Values have to be entered as DD/MM/YYYY
    Decimal A number with decimal places
    Option The comment will contain a list of values which can be used.
    Text100 Field may contain all type of characters, maximum length of value in the field: 100
    Time Values have to be entered as HH:MM:SS
  3. Enter the addres data into the Excel-file

    1. Worksheet: Resource Group. Start with the worksheet Resource Group. These groups can be used in Resources. The use of groups is recommended for planning and analysis purposes. Examples of groups: City-trailer, Cooler, Flatbed trailer, Tautliner and Tilt trailer.

      Description Yes The description.
    2. Worksheet: Resource When completed the worksheet Resource Group the worksheet Resource can be started. For each trailer a line has to be entered.

      Type Yes Fixed value: trailer.
      No. Yes The unique code for the trailer.
      Description Yes A description of the trailer, normaly the code and/or the registration number of the trailer.
      Registration No. No The registration number of the trailer.
      Resource Group Yes The code as defined in the worksheet: Resource Group in the column: Code.
      Cost per Kilometer No The average cost per kilometer to be used in trip calculations.
      Cost per Hour No The average cost per hour to be used in trip calculations
      Brand No The brand of the trailer, field has an informational value only
      Model No The model of the trailer, field has an informational value only
      Default Site No Fill only when multiple site-planning is applicable. The code of the address-record of the site.
      Carrier Yes Options: 0(trailer is owned by the company), 1(trailer is owned by a subcontractor)
      Carrier No. No The vendor No.. Only applicable if the trailer is owned by a sub-contractor.
      Status Template Code Yes Fixex value: RESOURCES
      Status Code Yes Fixed value: 10-NEW
    3. Worksheet: Resource Group Capacity When completed the worksheet: Resource the worksheet: Resource Group Capacity can be completed. For entering data the following guidelines:

      Resource Type Yes Fixed value: Trailer.
      Code Yes The value of the field: No. in the worksheet: Resource.
      Quantity UOM 1 No The maximum capacity on UOM 1.
      Quantity UOM 2 No The maximum capacity on UOM 2.
      Quantity UOM 3 No The maximum capacity on UOM 3.
      Quantity UOM 4 No The maximum capacity on UOM 4.
      Quantity UOM 5 No The maximum capacity on UOM 5.
      Quantity UOM 6 No The maximum capacity on UOM 6.
      Euro Pallet No The maximum capacity on Euro Pallets.
      Block Pallet No The maximum capacity on UOM Block Pallets.
      Load Meter No The maximum capacity on Loading Meters.
      Pallet Unit Place No The maximum capacity on Pallet Unit Places.
      Gross Weight No The maximum capacity on Gross Weight.
      Nett Weight No The maximum capacity on Nett Weight.
      Volume No The maximum capacity on Volume.
      Colli No Fixed value: 99.999
    4. Worksheet: Restrictions When completed the worksheet: Resource the worksheet: Restriction can be completed. It is not mandatory to use Restictions. Restrictions may already have been migrated on addresses or other resources so only additional restrictions have to be entered. Restrictions can be linked to Addresses, Goods and/or resources like containers, trucks, trailers, drivers. Examples of restrictions are: ADR and Tail Lift For entering data the following guidelines:

      Code Yes A unique code for the restriction.
      Name Yes The name of the description.
      Code Caption Yes Same value as Name.
      Filter Caption Yes Same value as Name.
      Description No Same value as Name.
    5. Worksheet Restrictions Assigned When completed the worksheet: Restrictions the worksheet: Restrictions Assigned can be completed. Each line results in a restrictions to linked to a trailer. For entering data the following guidelines:

      Type Yes Fixed value: 1
      No. Yes The value of the field: No. in the worksheet: Resource.
      Restriction Code Yes The value of the field: Code in the worksheet: Restriction.
      Available Yes Is the restriction available on the trailer, 0=False, 1=True.
      Required Yes Fixed value: 0.
      Forbidden Yes Fixed value: 0.

Step 3. Importing the data into Boltrics 3PL Dynamics

The following steps have to be perfomed to import the data from the Exel-file.

  1. Open page: Configuration Packages
  2. Go to the line with code: TRAILER and open the page.
  3. Click on the button: Import from Excel.
  4. A window will appear in which the Excel-file can be dropped.
  5. A new page will be opened: View - Config Package Import Preview. Click on the button: Import
  6. The page: Config. Package Card wil be opened. Click on the button: Apply Package and confirm with Yes.
  7. A window will apear to show the processing. When completed the number of errors, inserts and modifications will be shown.
  8. When errors are reported click on the line with the corresponding table in the field: No. of Packages Errors.
  9. The page Config. Package Records - (Tablename) will open and show the data of the records with errors. Select a line and click on th button: Show Error to read the error. Adjust the data and click on Apply data.

When the import is completed the vehicle will appear in the page: Trailer list

Step 4. Finish import

As a final step, the manual assignment of numbers should be disabled.

Disbale manual entry on no. series

  1. Open the page: Transport Setup, Tab: Numbering and click on the look-up button in the field: Truck Nos.
  2. Click on: Select from full list in the selection page.
  3. Scroll to the right side in the screen: Select No. Series.
  4. Click on the button: Edit List and disable the field: Manual Nos.
