Orderpicking

The structure of an orderpicking document is the same as for a shipment. The difference is that the orderpicking document is used to pick the goods from the warehouse. The orderpicking document is created based on the shipment. The orderpicking document is created when the shipment is released. If the default workflow is used, the orderpicking document is created when the shipment goes to status 14-ALLOCATION. In this status function 11154680 - function 100 is executed. This function creates the orderpicking document.
At default the allocation first assign max quantity to the HU's from bulk. The rest of the quantity is assigned to the pick location. The needed replenishment are automatically calculated and if needed replenish activities are created.
If there is not enough inventory available no orderpick document is created, and the shipment lines are put in backorder, a quantity registration is created with the reason code on shipment line level.

The following parameteres are taking in consideration when creating the orderpicking document:

Customer Item Card

  • Reservation Method: how to assign the inventory: Expiration Date, Production Date, etc. More information about the Reservation Method can be found here
  • Reservation Tolerance: Optional, a certain period to steere a flexible Expiration date, between Bulk and Pick inventory.
Reservation method Bulk: Different methods to assign the inventory from the bulk location for full pallets. Eg As little as possible HU's, First lowest quantity.
  • Reservation method Pick: Differetn methods to assign the inventory from the bulk location. Eg As little as possible HU's, First quantity lowest. Due the fact that the allocation strategy is taken from the Customer Item Card, it is possible to have different strategies within the same order. Even per orderline you can have different strategies, if conditions are used.

Condition

  • BULK ONLY: Only inventory from the bulk location is assigned.
  • FORCEPICK: Inventory is assigned from the pick location. The bulk inventory is not checked. This option is mainly used for high volume orderpick operations.
  • Other conditions: There are more conditions which can be used to steer the allocation, ask a Boltrics consultant for more information.

Locations

The following Zone Types (linked to the Location) are used to steer the allocation: Zone: Bulk, Zone: Pick. More information about the Location can be found here. Dynamics Picklocations/zone can be setup by assigning the zone PICKDYNA.

  • Status on Customer Item: If blocked, inventory is not assigned and skipped.
  • Status on Batch: If blocked, inventory is not assigned and skipped.
