Container Sizes
Introduction
Container Sizes define the standard dimensions and types of shipping containers used in your freight operations, particularly relevant for ocean and intermodal transport. Setting up container sizes allows for accurate capacity planning, equipment assignment, and potentially rating based on container type.
Setting Up Container Sizes
- Choose the
icon, enter Container Sizes, and then choose the related link.
- On the Container Sizes page, choose the New action.
- Fill in the following fields:
- Code: Enter a unique code for the container size (e.g., '20GP', '40GP', '40HC', '45HC', '20RF').
- Description: Provide a clear description (e.g., '20ft General Purpose', '40ft High Cube', '20ft Reefer').
- TEU Factor: Specify the Twenty-foot Equivalent Unit (TEU) factor for this container size (e.g., 1 for a 20ft container, 2 for a 40ft container).
- (Add other relevant fields based on codebase analysis, e.g., Length, Width, Height, etc.)
Using Container Sizes
Container Sizes are referenced in various parts of the FMS module:
- Shipment Documents: Specifying the type and quantity of containers being shipped.
- Equipment Management: Linking specific container equipment instances (Equipment Master, Equipment Details) to a standard size.
- Rate Management: Rates may vary depending on the container size used.
