Means of Transport

Introduction

Means of Transport represent the different means used to move goods in your forwarding operations, such as trucks, ships, airplanes, or trains.

Setting Up Means of Transport

  1. Choose the Lightbulb that opens the Tell Me feature icon, enter Means of Transport, and then choose the related link.
  2. On the Means of Transport page, choose the New action to add a new mode of transport.
  3. Fill in the following fields:
    • Code: Enter a unique code to identify the means of transport (e.g., 'TRUCK', 'VESSEL', 'AIR').
    • Description: Provide a clear description (e.g., 'Road Freight Truck', 'Ocean Vessel', 'Cargo Airplane').
    • Transport Type: Select the relevant transport type (e.g., Road, Sea, Air, Rail). This categorization can be used for filtering and reporting.

Using Means of Transport

Means of Transport are typically used in:

  • Shipment Planning: Assigning the mode of transport for different legs or sections of a shipment.
  • Voyage/Schedule Management: Linking voyages or schedules to specific types of vessels or vehicles.
  • Reporting: Analyzing transport volumes and costs by mode.
