Business Central is a server that consists of a Microsoft-maintained platform and business functionality*. Boltrics provides extra business functionality that makes the Boltrics solution. I get an update, sounds fun! But what can I expect?

With every upcoming update, it is important to be prepared. Whether you are a new customer or an existing customer, going prepared towards an update will save you stress when the update is executed in production. Before we explain how the process of an update will look like, it is important that all the conditions are met. For example, the right contact needs to be assigned, that way you will receive all the information (only for Dutch customers). We call this contact an 'update contact' this can be one or multiple colleagues within your organization. If you want to know, add, or change an update contact you can contact our support department. If you are a customer from a partner, you will receive all the information from our partner.

What does the process for updating look like?

We make a distinction between Dutch customers and customers with a partner.

The process of receiving an update is rather simple. When you are a new customer, you will go live on the newest version available. That means that you will receive your first update within 6 months from the day you went live with our software. This is the process of how you will receive the first update and communication:

  1. You will see an active task within your environment, you can search for 'Boltrics update list'.
    • In this task you will find information regarding:
      • Old and new versions
      • What kind of environment you have
      • Planned update date
      • Planned update time window
      • At what date the test version will be delivered
  2. We will send you an email that your update is planned
  3. You can already prepare for the upcoming update by:
    • Reading all the general and specific information for the new update. More information you can find here.
    • If we send a specific email for the upcoming update, please read this carefully because most of the time these emails are mandatory or have a high impact if you do not do something with the information provided.
  4. You will receive an email once the test environment is available
    • You can start testing the new code from Microsoft and Boltrics.
    • For more information regarding testing please click here.
  5. We will start executing the update at the planned date and window
  6. We will send an email once the update is completed
  7. You are now live on your new environment with the newest technology and security!

What if I have problems in my test environment or after the update?

If you run into any problems in testing or production, our partner or our support will be on standby. More information regarding this subject you can find here.
