Fuel clause
General
Use fuel clauses to calculate fuel surcharges on transport services automatically. A fuel clause specifies the surcharge, either as a fixed value or percentage, or as a percentage that follows the fuel price. TMS adds the surcharge as a separate revenue (or cost) line, so the surcharge appears next to the transport price on the order or trip.
Functionality
Some features on the fuel clauses:
- Multiple Fuel clauses can be set up.
- Fuel clauses can be set up as a fixed value or a percentage.
- Fuel clauses can be set as a value or based on base fuelprice and fluctuation, see Fuel Clause Advanced.
- Fuel clauses can be set for specific date periods
- A fuel clause can be linked to one or more contracts.
Set up a fuel clause
- Choose the
icon, enter Fuel Clauses, and then choose the related link. - Choose New to create a fuel clause.
- On the General tab, enter a description and the fuel surcharge Service No.. Select the source (customer, vendor, or price group) if the clause applies to a specific party.
- On the Surcharge tab, add a line for each surcharge value, with the date from which the surcharge applies.
- Link the fuel clause to the contract lines to which the surcharge applies.
Other settings on the fuel clause:

| Invoice Type Code | Use this to invoice the fuel surcharge on a separate invoice. |
| Base Amount Calculation | Whether the surcharge is calculated over the line amount or over the line amount including the discount amount. |
| Contract Price Search Date | The date that TMS uses to search for the contract price to which the surcharge applies. |
| Table Filter | Limits the documents to which the fuel clause applies. |
Adding Fuel services to orders/trips.
Fuel service can be determinated by clicking on one of the following actions on the order- and/or trip pages:
- Calculate Revenue/Cost
- Execute Contract Strategy
- Recalculate Fuel Clause
Fuel service can be determinated automatically by including a function in the status-template of the Order and/or Trip:
Tip
- The basic registration can be used when a fixed percentage or value has been agreed.
- It is mandatory to use a distinct service codes for transport en Fuelsurcharges.
- It is mandatory to apply the subtype: Surcharge on the service Fuel surcharge.
- For Quantity Calculation see Function Set Fuel Clause Surcharge.
- Apply an: Invoice Type Code when the Fuel Surcharge has to be invoiced on a separate invoice from the general services.
Warning
The contract detail lines containing a fuelsurcharge must contain the value: Surcharge in the field: Linetype. This is suggested automatically When the service contains the value:Surcharge in the field: Subtype. This to avoid no amount being calculated.
