Create retry order - Code: CREATE RETRY ORDER

General

This page describes the CREATE RETRY ORDER function of the TMS Irreg Resolution Functions function set. Use it in a step on an irregularity to plan a new attempt for the order behind the irregularity, for example after a failed delivery.

When the function runs, it does the following for every order, section, or carrier that's linked to the irregularity as a cause:

  1. Creates a new order as a copy of the original order, with the loading and unloading dates and times you specify. The copy gets the order type you choose, and the original comments are copied with it. The original and the new order are linked to each other.
  2. Optionally sets a condition on the new order, for example to count the delivery attempts.
  3. Adds the carriers (handling units) that are linked to the irregularity to the new order.
  4. Optionally updates the status of the original carrier, the original order, and the irregularity.
  5. Asks whether you want to open the new order.

The new order and its carriers are added to the irregularity as results.

If the irregularity is linked to several carriers of the same order, the function creates one retry order and adds all those carriers to it. If you run the function again for an order that was already copied, or for a carrier that was already added to the retry order, the function stops with an error that names the order or carrier.

Leave status parameters empty

All status parameters are optional. When you leave a status parameter empty, the function skips that status update instead of failing:

  • Leave CARR CXL STATUS empty to keep the status of the original carrier.
  • Leave ORD CXL STATUS and ORD P.CXL STATUS empty to keep the status of the original order.
  • Leave IRR. RESOLVED STATUS empty to keep the irregularity in its current status.

The reason code and reason description parameters only apply when the status parameter they belong to is filled in.

Set a condition on the retry order

Use the condition parameters to record on the new order, for example, which delivery attempt it is.

  • Set ORDER TYPE CODE to give the retry order a different order type than the original order.
  • Set CONDITION CODE and CONDITION VALUE to set a condition on the retry order. If either of them is empty, no condition is set.
  • Set COND VALUE METHOD to SET (default) to give the condition exactly the value in CONDITION VALUE. Set it to ADD to read the value of the same condition on the original order and add CONDITION VALUE to it. With ADD, use a whole number for CONDITION VALUE.

For example, to count delivery attempts, use a condition that holds the attempt number, and set COND VALUE METHOD to ADD and CONDITION VALUE to 1. Every retry order then gets an attempt number that's one higher than the order it came from.
