Activity Performance Operation Group
Activity Performance Operation Groups provide high-level categorization of warehouse operations. Use operation groups to group related Operation Types together, enabling simplified reporting and analysis of operational performance across major warehouse processes.
Overview
Operation Groups help you:
- Group related operations into logical categories
- Aggregate performance data across operation groups
- Analyze performance at a process level
- Organize warehouse operations hierarchically
Set up operation groups
- Choose the
icon, enter Activity Performance Operation Group List, and then choose the related link. - Fill in the fields as necessary. The following table describes key fields.
| Field | Description |
|---|---|
| Code | A unique identifier for the operation group (max 20 characters). |
| Description | A descriptive name for the operation group (max 100 characters). |
Example operation groups
| Code | Description | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| INBOUND | Inbound Operations | Groups all receiving and putaway operations. |
| OUTBOUND | Outbound Operations | Groups all picking, packing, and shipping operations. |
| INTERNAL | Internal Operations | Groups replenishment, transfers, and cycle counting. |
| VAL | Value-Added Logistics | Groups kitting, labeling, and quality control operations. |
| RETURNS | Returns Processing | Groups all returns-related operations. |
| CROSSDOCK | Cross-Dock Operations | Groups operations where goods bypass storage. |
Tip
For small operations, use basic groups like INBOUND, OUTBOUND, and INTERNAL. As your operation grows, you can create more specific groups such as INBOUND-TRUCK, PICK-BULK, or SHIP-PARCEL.
Link operation types to groups
Link operation groups through Operation Types:
- Choose the
icon, enter Activity Performance Operation Type List, and then choose the related link. - For each operation type, fill in the Operation Group Code field.
Multiple operation types can belong to the same operation group. For example, the INBOUND group might include UNLOAD, RECEIVE, PUTAWAY, and CROSSDOCK operation types.
Analyze performance with hierarchical reporting
Operation Groups enable hierarchical analysis:
- Group Level - Analyze overall inbound vs. outbound performance
- Type Level - Drill down to specific operation types within a group
- Activity Level - Further drill down to individual activities
Use operation groups to:
- Compare performance across major warehouse processes
- Track performance trends by operation group over time
- Plan staffing levels and allocate equipment by process area
- Set performance targets and identify best practices
Integration with other features
Activity performance entries
Operation Groups are accessed through Operation Types in Activity Performance Entries. Performance entries include the Operation Type, which links to the Operation Group, enabling reports to aggregate by Operation Group.
Warehouse activities
Operation Groups support analysis of Warehouse Activities. You can group activities by process area and optimize workflow based on operation group data.
