Activity Performance

Activity Performance tracking provides comprehensive measurement and analysis of warehouse operations. Use activity performance to record detailed information about warehouse activities, including timing, equipment used, operation types, and employee performance.

Overview

Activity Performance helps you:

  • Track time and efficiency of warehouse operations
  • Monitor usage of equipment and personnel
  • Identify bottlenecks and optimization opportunities
  • Generate reports on warehouse productivity
  • Maintain audit trail of all warehouse activities

Activity performance entries

Each Activity Performance Entry records a single warehouse operation or activity. You can create entries from:

  • Warehouse Activities - Activities from the warehouse activity system
  • Document Lines - Operations based on document lines (receipts, shipments)
  • Manual Tasks - Manually recorded operations

Measurement source types

Performance entries are categorized by their source:

  • Whse. Activity - Generated from Warehouse Activities
  • Document Line - Generated from document processing
  • Manual Task - Manually registered tasks

Entry types

Performance entries are classified by entry type:

  • Movement - Physical movement of goods within the warehouse
  • Transfer - Transfer between locations
  • Other operation types - Various warehouse operations

Track equipment in performance entries

Activity Performance includes comprehensive equipment tracking. Every performance entry automatically captures the active equipment being used, which enables equipment-based performance reporting and analysis.

Set equipment as active

You can set equipment as active in the following ways:

Default equipment assignment Set default equipment on the Scan Employee card. The equipment automatically becomes active when the employee logs into the scanning application.

Dynamic equipment selection Use scan function 18 "Set Active Equipment No." to scan an equipment ID or specify an equipment number. The system validates that the equipment exists and isn't blocked, then keeps it active for subsequent operations.

Activity-specific equipment Specify equipment when registering performance entries by passing it as a parameter in scan functions. This overrides the default equipment for specific operations.

Note

Each performance entry includes the equipment number and equipment type (via Equipment Type). This links to detailed equipment information for analysis.

Categorize operations

Operation types

Performance entries can include an Operation Type for detailed categorization. Operation types classify the specific type of operation performed, such as PICK, PACK, PUTAWAY, LOAD, or UNLOAD, enabling granular performance analysis.

Operation groups

Use Operation Groups to provide high-level categorization such as INBOUND, OUTBOUND, or INTERNAL. Operation groups enable strategic process-level analysis and simplify reporting across major warehouse processes.

Specify operation type in scan functions

Specify operation type when registering performance entries through scan functions:

  • Function 17 (Register Performance Entry): Parameter 7 - OPERATION TYPE
  • Function 35 (Register Performance Entry Document Line): Parameter 13 - OPERATION TYPE
  • Function 36 (Register Performance Entry Manual Task): Parameter 31 - OPERATION TYPE

Performance entry fields

Each performance entry captures key information about warehouse operations. The following table describes the main fields.

Field Category Fields Description
Identification Entry No., Measurement Source Type, Entry Type Unique identifier, source of the entry (Whse. Activity, Document Line, Manual Task), and type of operation (Movement, Transfer).
Activity Information Description, Activity Type Code, Activity Group Code, Action Code, Operation Type Code Details about the activity performed and operation classification.
Resource Tracking User ID, Assigned User ID, Equipment No. Tracks employee who performed the activity and equipment used.
Location and Movement From Location No., To Location No., Warehouse Code Starting location, destination location, and warehouse.
Item and Carrier Customer Item No., Carrier No., Carrier Type Code Item being handled and carrier/handling unit information.
Timing From Date/Time, To Date/Time, Activity Date/Time Activity start time, end time, and duration.
Document References Source Document Type, Source Document No., Source Document Line No. Links to source documents.

Register performance entries

Performance entries are created automatically or manually depending on the source.

Register from warehouse activities

Performance entries are automatically created when you perform warehouse activities. The entry automatically captures:

  • All warehouse activity details
  • Active equipment number
  • Operation type (if specified)
  • User and timing information

Register from document lines

When you process documents (receipts, shipments, etc.), you can register performance entries for the operations. Specify operation type and equipment number as parameters when registering the entry.

Register from manual tasks

You can record manually performed tasks as performance entries. This is useful for activities not tied to specific warehouse activities or document lines, such as manual counting tasks.

Update performance entries

Use scan function 37 (Update Performance Entry) to update existing performance entries. You can:

  • Update description, locations, and timing
  • Correct entry information
  • Add missing details
Note

You can't delete performance entries after they're created. This maintains a complete audit trail of all warehouse activities.

Use scan functions for performance tracking

Activity Performance integrates with scan functions to enable real-time performance tracking.

Function 17: Register Performance Entry

Registers a performance entry based on warehouse activity. Key parameters include warehouse activity entry number, locations, timing, and operation type. Returns the created entry number.

Function 18: Set Active Equipment No

Sets the active equipment for subsequent operations. Specify either the equipment number or equipment ID. The equipment remains active until changed.

Function 35: Register Performance Entry Document Line

Registers a performance entry from document line processing. Use this when processing receipts, shipments, or other document-based operations. Specify operation type and receive the created entry number.

Function 36: Register Performance Entry Manual Task

Registers a performance entry for manual tasks not tied to specific activities or documents. Use this for operations like manual counting or ad-hoc tasks.

Function 37: Update Performance Entry

Updates an existing performance entry. You can update description, locations, and timing to correct or complete entry information.

Tip

See Scan Functions for complete parameter details for each function.

Analyze performance data

Equipment analysis

Use equipment tracking to analyze:

  • How frequently each piece of equipment is used
  • Productivity across different equipment
  • Performance by equipment type
  • Equipment requiring maintenance
  • Equipment allocation optimization

Operation analysis

Use operation types and groups to analyze:

  • Efficiency of different operations
  • Operations taking longer than expected
  • Staffing needs by operation type
  • Impact of process changes
  • Performance by operation group

Combined insights

Combine equipment and operation data to understand:

  • Equipment performance by operation type
  • Operation efficiency by equipment type
  • Resource optimization across processes
  • Equipment requirements by operation group
