Set up attributes

Use attributes to register information that the standard fields don't cover, for example an extra reference on an order or a characteristic of a good. On the Attribute Setup page, you decide which attributes show up on which records.

Before you start, create the attributes themselves on the Attribute page. For the available attribute types and their options, see Attributes and features.

Assign attributes to TMS records

  1. Choose the Lightbulb that opens the Tell Me feature. icon, enter Attribute Setup, and then choose the related link.
  2. In the TMS section, find the group for the record you want to extend: TMS Document Header, TMS Document Line, Good, or Equipment. Each group has 10 attribute fields.
  3. In an empty attribute field, select the code of the attribute that you want to use.
  4. Confirm the message that asks if you want to update all data.

When you set, change, or remove an attribute code, the application asks for confirmation before it updates the records in that table. The application also tests whether the code is already in use.

Assign attributes to other tables

Some tables, for example irregularity codes, departments, and plan boxes, are set up on the lines of the Attribute Setup page instead of in the TMS section.

  1. On the Attribute Setup page, go to the lines.
  2. Add a line and select the Table. The table name is filled in for you. If the table doesn't support attributes, you get the message Table not supported.
  3. Select an attribute in Attribute 01 through Attribute 10. The description is filled in automatically.

For the TMS tables on these lines, up to 10 attributes are available per table. Irregularity codes are one example. For more information, see Irregularity.

You can't rename a line. You can delete a line only when all its attributes are blank.

Assign information templates

In the Templates section, the TMS group links an information template to each of these records:

  • Order
  • Trip
  • Abnormality
  • Truck
  • Trailer
  • Driver
  • Chassis
  • Container
  • Other resource

Select a template in the matching field. On the lines, you can also select a Template per table.

Use attributes on master data

After you set up an attribute, it's available on the related record. For example, you can add extra fields to an address, driver, truck, or trailer. You can also use attributes to register characteristics that aren't available as conditions.
