Plan box list

Use plan boxes to assign sections automatically to a specific Section Planbox. The Section Planbox only shows the sections of a specific plan department and plan box, so planners see just the sections they're responsible for.

For example, you can divide a country into plan departments (north, east, south, and west) and differentiate between pickup and delivery per region with plan boxes.

How plan boxes work

When a section is created or updated, TMS determines its plan box and plan department automatically, based on the loading and unloading address of the section. This works as follows:

TMS looks at all plan boxes that are valid on the loading date of the section (for a trip, the planned starting date) and that have a priority.
A plan box only applies when the loading address is in the Load part of its area, the unloading address is in the Unload part, and the additional filters on the plan box match the order.
If more than one plan box applies, TMS uses the plan box with the most specific area. This is the plan box with the lowest priority number.
The plan box is set on the section. The plan department of the plan box is then copied to the section.

To use this logic, add the function Determine Planbox and Department (Order, Section, Trip) to the status template of the section. For more information, see Function: Determine Planbox and Department.

Note

You can also determine the plan department and plan box through the routing strategy. Use the routing strategy when the plan box depends on more than the areas of the addresses.

Set up a plan box

Choose the icon, enter Plan Box List, and then choose the related link.
Choose New to create a plan box.
Enter a No. and a Description.
Select the Plan Department and the Area Code.
Fill in the other fields as necessary. The following table describes the fields that need more explanation.

Field	Description
Valid From Date, Valid To Date	Use dates to keep the current configuration and set up a new configuration that takes effect from a certain date, or to stop a configuration at a certain date.
Plan Department	The plan department that is set on the section when this plan box applies.
Area Code	The area that the loading and unloading address of the section must be in. Load and Unload show the description of the loading and unloading part of the area.
Table filter	An additional filter on the order to create more specific plan boxes, for example on department, order type, or order volume by quantity unit of measure.
Criteria Function Set	An additional function set that must return true for the plan box to apply.
Priority	Calculated from the area. When more than one plan box applies to a section, the plan box with the lowest priority number is applied. A plan box without a priority isn't used.

Prerequisites

To set up the plan box functionality, set up the following:

Section Configuration	Set up section configurations if orders must be split into multiple sections.
Area	Set up areas for each point of loading and unloading, so that TMS can determine a specific area on the section.
Plan boxes	On a plan box, set the area, the plan department, and the plan box.
Status template: Section	Add a line with the function Determine Planbox and Department (Order, Section, Trip).

Tip

To get a more specific overview in the Section Planbox, add the plan box as a Section Table Filter on the plan department, or apply filters in the Section Planbox and save them.
