Design Details - Trip Calculation

General

This page contains a description of the priciples on which the trip calculation in the Transportation module of 3PL Dynamics is based.

  • A planner-license is required for using the PTV-API. Contact your local partner for more information.
  • The route-calculation is based on the charteristics per region. The basic settings are based on Western Europe. For other regions modification may be required. Contact your local partner for more information.
  • The sequence of stops on a trip is based on the sequence a users selected the unplanned sections/markers. For more information see: Design principles Sequence Determination

PTV Functionality

To calculate the route, driving distances and -duration on a Trip 3PL Dynamics uses a API from PTV. The PTV-route-optimizer is enabling 3PL to calculate and show routing based on the type of Resource and both historical and actual traffic information. In addition to the route information Toll-costs and Emission Calculation will be added to the Trip. 3PL Dynamics also uses PTV's maps and Geocoding functions.

The type of Resource planned on aTrip influences the route, driving distances and -duration. When Calculating a trip the PTV Vehicle Profiles will be retrieved from the Truck planned on the Trip. If the Truck does not contain a PTV Vehicle Profile the PTV Vehicle Profiles set on the Vehicle Resource Group wil be applied. If the Resource Group does not contain a PTV Vehicle Profile the PTV Vehicle Profile set on the PTV Setup will be applied. If no Truck has been planned on the Trip or no PTV Vehicle Profile has been set on the PTV Setup the default profile: EUR_TRUCK_40T will be applied.
