Trip

General

A trip is a collection of sections planned and executed with a combination of resources.

Tab-sheets

The trip contains a number of tab-sheets. Depending on the personalizatoin-settings, not all tabs will will be shown automatically to each user/role.

Name Description
General Contains the status and the Route, among others.
Start/End Contains the start date, time, address and the end date, time and address of the trip.
Resource/Outsourcing The resources used to perform the trip. Depending on the execution, this can be a truck, trailer and driver(s). If a trip is not performed in-house but by a third party then the supplier can be registered.
Sections The sections planned on a trip.
Planned Sections The sections planned on the trip. Each line contains a section. Various section functions a available on each line.
Section sequence The sectons planned on the trip. Each line contain a section. With buttons the sequence can be changed.
Activities All activities that apply to the trip. Possibility to configure additional activities for a trip. I.E. Border waypoints, Ferry Lines, Bridges, Weight platforms or Cleaning Stations.
Stops All activities planned on one address within a contiguous time window.
Costs The costs applicable to the trip. Costs can be added manually but it is also possible to determine them automatically based on TMS contacts. By clicking on the Action: Compare Vendor a list of Vendors applicable on the trip will be presented.
Revenue If revenue is determined based on the trip, it will be visible here.

Fact-boxes

In addition to the tab sheets above, a number of fact boxes can be displayed in which additional information is visible. Depending on the personalization-settings not all Fact-boxes will be shown automatically to each user/role.

Name Description
Parties The parties related to the trip, based on the Ordertype and Party Template
Steps The steps related to the trip.
Status steps The steps related to the status of the trip.
Plan selection More information to follow.
Trip (totals) Some values of the trip, for example, the totals of planned kilometers, hours and planning units of the orders planned on the trip.
Invoicing The totals of Revenues and Costs on the trip.
Calculation The revenues and costs at different stages of the trip.
Vendor Statistics A number of values related to the vendor of the trip, for example the Total Balance.
Buy from vendor history A number of values shown as tiles related to the vendor of the trip,e.g. the number of posted invoices
Messages The messages send to the driver related to the trip.
Links The documents linked to the trip, e.g. the scanned tripreport by the driver.

Determination From Address

The following sequence applies on determining the From Address of a Trip:

  1. Manaully, when the From Address has been modified by a user 3PL will no longer determinate the From Address.
  2. Succesive Trip Calculation, when the parameters in the Trip Calculation Setup
  3. Linked trip, The To Address from the linked trip, this is a specific methode and no longer adviced.
  4. Default Site Driver, when a Default site has been set on the Driver.
  5. Default Site Truck, when a Default site has been set on the Truck.

Trip caluculation

3Pl Dynamics provides 2 methodes of calculating trips:

  • Calculating single trip
  • Calculating based on previous trip, including updating successive trips.

Calculating single trip

The selected trip will be calculated. Based on the From Date/Time, From-address, Resource and planned sections the activities will be calculated. This will result in: Planned Arrival Date/Times, Ending Date/Times and Distances on the activities.

Succesive trip calculation

This functionality is available when the parameters in the Trip Calculation Setup have been set. When a succesive trip, based on the calculation resource has a startdate and -time before the enddate, -time of the previous trip, the succesive trip will be recalculated automatically:

  • The Startdate and -time of the succesive trip will be set to the enddate and -time of the previous trip.
  • The From Address of the succesive trip will be set to the To Address of the previous trip.
  • All Trip Activities of the succesive trip will be recalculated based on the new Startdate, -time and From Address. For succesive trip calculation the function: 11172845-347 has to be included in the statustemplate of the trip.

Trip Package Administration

Users can register the quantity of packages exchanged on a trip by clicking on the action: Trip Package Administration on the list-page: Trips. For more information on setting up the Package Exchange see: Package.

For planning trips the following setting appy:
